2011 Canadian National Wildfowl Carving Championships
At the 2011 Canadian National Wildfowl Carving Championships Jason's entry of a decorative Ruddy Duck drake decoy was awarded Best of Show. Jason also exhibited this piece at the 2011 World Championships were it received 3rd Best of Show in the Masters division.




2010 Ward World Championships Masters Winner
At the 2010 Ward World Championship Carving Competition Jason's entry of a decorative Northern Shoveler drake decoy was awarded the distinction of Masters Best of Show. Jason other entry of a pair of Buffleheads was awarded 2nd Best in World in the World Decorative Floating Decoy Pairs division.




Wildfowl Carving Magazine Summer 2007
Jason's article on carving a Wood Duck drake emerging from a block of wood was featured in the summer 2007 issue of Wildfowl Carving Magazine. A picture of the finished carving was also chosen for the cover of the issue. Back issues are still available for purchase from Wildfowl Carving Magazine




Andy & Sandy Andrews Gallery of Wildlife Art
By invitation Jason and his wife attended the opening celebration on September 28th 2006 of the Andrews Gallery of Wildlife Art at the Ella Sharp Museum of Art and History in Jackson Michigan. Jason was specially commissioned to carve a Wood Duck Drake for the Gallery. Shown emerging from a block of wood this sculpture will serve as an educational piece to show to the public how a carving progresses from the block to the final finish. Several other carvings of Jason's are included in the collection.




First Article for Wildfowl Carving Magazine
Jason's article on carving and painting a Ringnecked Hen decoy was published in the Summer 2006 issue of Wildfowl Carving magazine. An excerpt from the article can be viewed online by clicking here. Look for more articles from Jason in the future.



Upper Canada Woodworking Competition
For the 14th time in the last 16 years Jason has won Best of Show honours at the 2005 Upper Canada Woodworking Competition. This years best of show entry was of a Ringnecked Duck Hen which can be seen here.
It was entered in the shows new Masters Division.



2005 Chinook Wildfowl Carving Competition
Jason was invited to be one of the featured judges for the 2005 Chinook Wildfowl Carving Competition in Calgary Alberta. Jason also conducted a two day seminar previous to the show on feather carving, texturing and painting techniques.




2005 Halifax Carving Competition
Jason was invited to be the feature judge and seminar leader at this years Atlantic Wildlife Carving Competition in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Jason was the sole judge for the show and was present after the judging to give critiques to various competitors.



2005 Brant Festival Wildlife Carving Competition
Jason was invited to be one of the featured judges for the 2005 Brant Festival Wildlife Carving Competition on Vancouver Island in Parksville B.C. Jason held a two day seminar previous to the show that was attended by 14 eager to learn carvers. A great time was had by all but especially by Jason as this was his first visit to the West Coast.




2004 World Championship
Jason won the 2004 World Championship Decorative Floating Decoy Pairs competition for the second consecutive year. For the championship Jason carved a pair of Harlequins. The pair were on display at the prestigious Ward Foundation museum for the year. The World Championship pairs are no longer purchased by the museum making this the first time a World Championship carving has been available to the public to purchase




Prairie Canada Carving Competition
Jason was invited to be the featured artist and judge for the 2004 Prairie Canada Carving Competition held in Winnipeg Manitoba, March 19-21. At the show Jason gave a day-long seminar on painting techniques. E-mail Tom Park at tmpark@mb.sympatico.ca for information.



2003 World Championship
In April of 2003 Jason won the 2003 World Championship Decorative Floating Pairs competition. For the championship Jason carved a pair of Smew. The pair of Smew are now in the permanent collection of The Ward Foundation and can be viewed at their museum in Salisbury, Maryland.




Upper Canada Woodworking Competition
For the 11th time in the last 13 years Jason has won Best of Show honours at the 2003 competition. This years best of show entry was of a Spotted Sandpiper which can be seen here
